Objectives
This two-day course teaches attendees how to use RSMeans unit price data as the most reliable basis for developing and evaluating Job Order Contracts (JOC's).
Approach
The use of the Job Order Contracting method for contract delivery is expanding throughout state, local and federal governments. What began as a successful Department of Defense (JOC and SABER) cost-economizing program is now found in cities, school districts, housing authorities, universities and hospitals nationwide as well as in the private sector. Most often, RSMeans construction cost data is specified as the standard upon which these contracts are based.
In response to growing demand, the engineers at RSMeans have developed an intensive program to teach both government and private sector professionals the ins and outs of RSMeans' unit price methodology and how to apply it to Job Order Contracting. In keeping with the kind of work specified for JOCs, this seminar focuses mainly on using RSMeans data in a repair and remodeling environment. Attendees will become familiar with RSMeans Facilities Construction Cost Data and will use that knowledge to work through and practice a full range of JOC estimates. Additionally, attendees will gain expertise in determining project scope, location factors, and contractor coefficients - including allowances for project overhead, labor, contractor O&P, sales taxes, material waste allowance, and repair/remodeling inefficiencies.
Who should attend?
Government and Private Sector Facility Managers; Architectural, Engineering and Contracting Estimators... and others needing a highly reliable method for developing and evaluating Job Order Contracts.
